Episode 113: Richard Lowenstein Interview Part Two

Updated: Jul 24, 2022

Fresh off our Part One deep dive with Richard Lowenstein, we are excited to prove that the sequel sometimes can be better than the original. Somehow, we manage to recapture 1987 in all its glory, with further discussions about the Prague videos of “Never Tear Us Apart” and “Guns in the Sky”.

We explore his 2019 masterpiece “Mystify” documentary on Michael Hutchence and get a sense of the man as Richard reveals new anecdotes and stories of their time together. Additionally, Richard shares with us the sheer difficulty of putting the project together with band management regularly blocking needed music to augment the strict telling of the story.

With our much-loved patrons getting their questions answered, we are excited to close off this much-wanted discussion with a true “auteur” to the arts that is the great Richard Lowenstein.

Love and Peace ✌️

Mystify was a stellar tribute to Michael from Richard. It is so hauntingly beautiful. I loved that Richard used voices to tell the story and focused on images of Michael mainly. He brought in Michael's first girlfriend Ananda to comment. Ananda seemed to be a kindred spirit with Michael as they shared their love of books and poetry. Richard added new light to a story told many times before.

Episode 112 and 113 were a great listen with Richard Lowenstein. Haydn and Bee have developed a brilliant style when having guests on. You know they are there but more importantly, the guest 'has the floor'. I'm often frustrated on other podcasts where the guest finds it hard to get a word in. This podcast continues to deliver weekly with historical, current and anything generally INXS related. Not an episode passes where I don't learn something new about a band I've loved since 1982.
