Episode 167: Nile Rodgers Deep Dive 
Having spoken with Hall of Famer, Nile Rodgers last week, we are pleased to examine the career legacy, influence on generations of artists and the technical prowess that is funk/dance music.

Harking back to James Brown, George Clinton’s Funkadelic and Sly and The Family Stone, Nile and Chic took the baton in 1977 and created a soundscape that inspired hundreds of artists most notably “our INXS”!

We get to hear some fascinating “time and place” anecdotes from Daryl Hall, Tim Farriss, Michael Hutchence and Jon Farriss in working with Nile Rodgers combined with the huge respect that Nile had for the drumming exploits of Jon Farriss. And with the power of You Tube, we might even have a unique song opening to episode 167 with the band warming up to an obscure Nile solo song: Yum Yum!!

This Week in INXS HistoryFriday & Saturday, 13 November 1981 & 1982

On Friday 13 November 1981 INXS would play the Black Friday Show at Selina's Coogee Bay Hotel and one year later on Saturday 13 November they would play again. In February 1992, marked over one million people attending the venue and would see such acts from INXS, Midnight Oil, Crowded House, David Bowie, Elton John to Nirvana and more. INXS also famously left their mark by spray painting on the loading dock wall "INXS Was Here" when they played the venue in 1993.

For the month of November we will be taking you back to USA Fan Club newsletter from the year 1994. There seemed to be a lot going on for the band of brothers between 1993-1994.

UNITED KINGDOM cont'd.
While in London, the band played on TOP OF THE POPS, which went extremely well.
On October 17th, INXS, Management and Record Company threw a big party to
launch the U.K. debut of the single 'The Strangest Party.' A strange party
literally - with Tattoo'ists, dancers, strange drinks, bizarre furniture,
flame throwers etc. Great Dane dogs were placed at the door to greet guests.
No doubt, English magazines will report on this very unique event.
The remaining days of the
month
INXS traveled to Sweden, Paris/France,
Germany, Holland, Switzerland and Spain todo promotional TV performances and
to give lots of interviews.
UNITED STATES:
Next step: New York.
We don't have the exact date of the band's arrival, but
we're sure, INXS will be in New York on November 1st to celebrate the debut of
'Greatest Hits.
November 2nd and 3rd have been set aside for visits to radio stations, phone
interviews, photo shoots, meeting with the press, etc.
We don't have a copy of their very busy schedule, but with INXS in promo-over-
drive they will be everywhere. On the streets in the city, maybe record
stores and other gatherings. Keep your eyes open, you might just be lucky to
run into one of them.
ONE CONFIRMED EVENT:
On November 3rd INXS will be guests on CBS THE DAVID
LETTERMANN show, performing their new song 'The Strangest Party.
DON'T MISS THIS ONE!
Unfortunately, INXS are only doing personal promotion in New York, but
broadcasting, to
phones and the electronic super-highway of Internet will help the promotion to
reach all regions of the U.S. If this does not get out to your areas, you can help INXS with a little promotion of your own. Take your friends to your local record store and make sure that INXS* 'Greatest Hits' gets special attention on the day of the debut. Also call your favorite radio station for INXS music, especially on November 1st, and any day after!
Maybe you could organize a party around the theme of INXS' new song 'The
Strangest Party. Tell us about the party and we will print the 'best' in our
next newsletter, (Include photo)

CANADA/JAPAN:
It has not been
confirmed, yet Canada could be the next stop on INXS'
promotional tour, before returning home.
